De Kunstenaars

"Young Collectors" september - december 2013

Born in 1983 in Germany. Lives and works in New York.

Agnes Lux use of postcards and index cards creates conceptual collages and abstract drawings. Her interest for cards rest on their role in the communication and the language of abstract forms that they hold. Lux explains: “Postcards are used as tools of communication, usually messengers of short, trivial notes. Generally, postcards do not demand a response. Postcards are objects used as a foundry of abstraction, because the cards are not carriers of direct content - emails would rather be send to answer urgent questions - but they are an ornamentation of communication as strategy. They point at the very nature of how culture is built and reflect the structures of how artworks are valued as qualitative events today.”
