Since the 1980’s, Gloria Friedmann has been creating photographs, sculptures and installations where the relationship between mankind and its environment plays an important role. The artist’s main concern is the interaction between nature, political and economical powers thus exploring their contradictions. She combines materials taken from nature, adopting of a minimal language to create her pieces. Beyond ‘green activism’, Friedmann’s work is not limited to defend nature and condemn the destructive actions of men; she questions the evolution of humanity, addressing metaphysical issue. She shows apprehension regarding the uncertainty of the future.
