Born in the Chicago in 1953, he lives and works in Paris.

American photographer Mark Arbeit grew up in North Carolina before moving to Hawaii as a teenager. There, he studied art and photography, before turning entirely to photography at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. While there, he became Helmut Newton’s assistant. After his studies, he worked as a studio assistant for Irving Penn. Arbeit became famous as a fashion photographer and portraitist, shooting for magazines like Marie Claire, Vogue, In Style and People. Aside from his work as a fashion photographer, Arbeit also likes to photograph the landscapes and people of Hawaii, an island he regularly travels to.”
