"La Gioia" october - december 2014

Born in 1971 in Italy. Lives and works in Milan.

Francesco Vezzoli is mostly interested in questions around contemporary media culture. His work includes satirical trailers of films that will never be produced or advertising campaigns for fictional products. By emulating different formats of media, he addresses ongoing preoccupations: the fundamental ambiguity of truth, the seductive power of language, and the instability of the human persona. Though Vezzoli employs a wide range of media, he remains known for his embroidery pieces in which he engaged with the cult of fame through well-known female figures.
