"Everybody is crazy, but me" april - july 2016

Born in Paris in 1942, she lives and works in Montparnasse.

Francine Van Hoven is well known for her drawings and paintings of partially clad young women, as well as the refined details of her artworks. The skin tones of her nudes have a delicate transparence, and are a truly remarkable expression of beauty and sensuality. What adds an additional dimension to her work, is knowing that Van Hoven only works with life models, caught lounging in their cozy apartments or gardens, sunbathing, reading, playing checkers and drinking tea. According to Van Hoven, the true subject of her artwork is intimacy. Like no other, she finds an aesthetic interest in everyday gestures, giving her works a timeless appeal.
