"Icon(s)" april - july 2015

Born in Belgium in 1983, he lives and works in Brussels.

Gustavo Riego’s work offers a critical view on the banking system and the financial world in general. Riego creates performances and collages to denounce the practices of the big banks; he has, for example, dressed up as a toreador in front of the statue of the Bull of Wall Street. The artist was clearly inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement as well as by the global financial crisis of 2008.
