Born in France in 1939, he lives and works in La Garenne-Colombes.

Jean Pierre Raynaud performed his first artistic act by filling a flowerpot with cement. The oversized and colorful flowerpot has, since then, become a recurring theme in his work. Raynaud pulls familiar objects out of their usual context – signage panels, flags and painted cans among others – to give them a new dimension. Over the years, the use of white tiles has become his signature. In 1696, he started the construction of his own house which was completely covered, on the inside, with the same white tiles. The construction of the house took 24 years, after which it was destroyed by the artist himself.
