Herb Ritts’ career as a professional photographer started at the end of the 1970s. He quickly became famous as a fashion and commercial photographer, shooting actors, singers, dancers, models and politicians, like Bill Clinton and Nelson Mandela. Ritts created some of the most iconic images of 1990s supermodels, among whom Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell. His photographs frequently featured on the covers of Vogue, Vanity Fair, Interview and Rolling Stone; he also shot the 1999 Pirelli Calendar. Among his most noted advertising campaigns is the 1992 Calvin Klein Underwear campaign, featuring Mark Wahlberg and up-and-coming Kate Moss. Furthermore, Ritts also shot several music videos for Michael Jackson, Jon Bon Jovi, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey and Madonna.
