Vladimir Dubossarsky born in Russia in 1964, Alexander Vinogradov born in Russia in 1963. They live and work in Moscow.

Artistic duo Vladimir Dubossarsky and Alexander Vinogradov have been working together since 1994. That year, they created their first series of paintings titled People who never came to Moscow. The style of their colorful paintings is reminiscent of Socialist Realism, which was the official style under the Communist regime but had, since the 1990s been banned. Another great influence is Pop Art, as Dubossarsky and Vinogradov like to incorporate elements of popular culture in their paintings, like TV stars, fashion models as well as toys and candy. They also add references to nineteenth-century Russian paintings, like Russian myths and traditions. The resulting paintings offer a distinctively Russian satire of consumerist euphoria. Anna Petrova: “With their paintings the idealistic dreams of Socialist Realism become a glorification of idols created by a society of mass consumerism.”
