Born in 1911 in Belgium and died in 1992.

Major figure of the Belgian abstraction, Jo Delahaut intended to evoke as much emotions as possible with a minimum of means. He started painting impressionistic canvasses in 1940, later evolving to a very different style. He created static geometric forms in which colors played a major role, in a constant and patient attempt to order chaos and achieve balance. “I like the logic,” he explained, “the improvised scares me.”
